For Quilt Guild/Group: Modern Motif Reverse Applique Workshop

Reverse Applique is a great technique to showcase and make your work original. You will work with the multiple templates to make dandelion motif applique on a large piece of background fabric. You will learn how to trace the motif on the fabric, use freezer paper as an outline to make the shapes, fold the applique seam in place nicely, and baste and sew the applique. By project completion, you will be confident with the technique!

3-hour workshop
Student skill level: Intermediate

Required supplies that students need to bring:

    • Fabrics
(Use spray starch and iron all your fabrics before cutting. It helps minimize
the shrinkage of the fabric during the process.)
      • (1) 18” x 18” (or larger) for the background
      • (4) 2” x 7 1⁄2” for the leaves - Color 1
      • (4) 2” x 7 1⁄2” for the leaves - Color 2
      • (1) 6” x 6” for the center circle
      • For the small circles: About 4 - 8 skinny strips for each small circle, enough to make 4 1⁄2” x 4 1⁄2” pieced square from them. They can be a mix of 3⁄4” – 1 1⁄2” width strips. Prepare the strips for four circles.
